As an experiment I put a couple blogs online to do some personal research on the political views in Maine and the Country.

I think most people have views on things happening in the country, I also think many people are trying to ignore things that are happening in politics. I must admit, some of the things that are happening are at best discouraging.

We have those online that research things such as the Cuckold’s Lightstation, or even the information I have on this blog about wood stoves. I just put things that might interest me, or that I hear while talking with friends or acquaintances.

The links are in “My Links” and the non-political ones are about chickens and lobstering, although with what is happening in America, the information on the Lobstering site does lean to things in politics that affect lobster fishing in Maine.

I have in most cases attempted to remain fairly neutral on most topics and but feel that it is important that we do speak out about things that interest us and I feel that the internet and blogs, is easy, free, and does actually disseminate the information. It allows anyone to have a say, at least on how they feel about things.

This blog/site is intentionally a “personal” site where I put whatever comes to mind. Unlike many I don’t do it for profit, I do it for fun. I can say this honestly as I think most people know that a low volume site, does not really make any money. I would do better picking up returnable cans and bottles beside the road.

When I get enough of the “professional” blogs about computer repair and politics, and things of this nature I like to search personal blogs. Those that aren’t totally commercial and talk about things such as fishing, hunting, crocheting, or anything that is just a hobby or pastime are actually quite interesting. Admittedly they are extremely difficult to find.

Another of the interesting e-mails I have received recently.

I thought this was important enough to post on this site. If anyone has any information about the NRA and where they stand or if they verify what is happening with this bill, I really would like to know. I think it possible that the NRA might be better informed than either Snopes.com or TruthOrFiction.com but that is just my opinion. I do know I would sooner believe the NRA to any of the other sites on the internet.

Comments are welcome. It is floating on the internet, if you have an opinion on this bill, share with others!

Subject: Re: Fw: Check your tax return closely……

Look what’s on the 2010 tax return. Verified true on Snopes at http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt.asp

Now ALL GUNS must be listed on your next (2010) tax return!

Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own.
It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on February 24, 2009 by the Obama staff. But this bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective!

This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee has passed this without the Senate voting on it at all.

The full text of the IRS amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage: www.senate.gov.

You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number SB-2099. You know who to call. I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.

Text of H.R.45 as Introduced in House: Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009: www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h45/text

Obama’s Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if you don’t fully comply.

It is very important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.

Even gun shop owners didn’t know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar as a “minor” IRS revision. And as usual, the political lawmakers did not read this bill before signing and approving it!

To find out about this, go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Goggle HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.
Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm – any rifle with a clip or any pistol unless:
· It is registered.
· You are fingerprinted..
· You supply a current Driver’s License.
· You supply your Social Security number.
· You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing.

Each update change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25. Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 years in prison.

If you think this is a joke – go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this. It is long and lengthy. But more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in your family pass this along.

This is just a “termite” approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense – chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.

This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not.
<http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.45>
<http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h45/show>

Please! Copy and send this out to EVERYONE in the USA , whether you support the right to bear arms or are for gun control. WE ALL SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE!

This is more change you can believe in!

“True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been,
will be, and will not be. Peace is seeing a sunset
and knowing who to thank. The happiest people
don’t necessarily have the best of everything – they
just make the best of everything they have.”

I found this post, “Store or Starve” and thought it was something we might all do ourselves a favor and just check it out.

In a situation like In Haiti, would something like this article, if we actually followed some of it be a benefit to all? I can’t help but feel that it is almost common sense. I believe in a certain amount of survivalism even though I can’t say I believe in many thousands of rounds of ammo for assault rifles, or hundreds of pounds of dried foods that last for years, but I do believe in having a little more on hand than we might have just a few years ago.

If we did have something like Katrina, wouldn’t it be likely that those in a town nearby, relatively unaffected might be able to help the victims as much or more than the government on short notice concerning food and necessities?

The article gives some very good advice on how to protect your food. I think for many of us, it just isn’t going to happen as far as sealers and all the things we really should do.

For those that are more like me, I recommend having more than a normal amount of food on hand. I think it would be bad not to date not to date anything you plan to store. Naturally use the oldest first.

If we had a disaster, people will search for food. I think it would be nice to have some extra on hand to share. This is beyond you immediate family. A son or daughter a city or two away, just might be able to share with you if your home was washed away.

There might be a neighbor that could use some help. It seems that if there was a relatively short term emergency, it just might be nice to have a few things that could be shared without cutting your own family short.

I do stress to check dates on perishable items. The storage idea is best, as that article says, but most of us could easily keep a bit extra on hand. It is also quite green in that if we stock up, we don’t have to go to the store as often which saves energy.

It just might be a good feeling for a victim of a mudslide or the like, to know their kids, parents, or someone that has a home, actually has some extra supplies for a few days until the emergency passes.

That’s the main reason I thought the article might be interesting to others. I think it is a good idea to take care of ourselves.

I noticed an ad where CVS Drugstore and Walgreen’s are open for business on Christmas day.

I believe I will upset many people, but I know I keep hearing how stores really shouldn’t be open on Sunday, let alone Christmas.

I personally believe this. I would also say that I think it might be nice if stores weren’t open on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving isn’t as important to me, but overall, I think many families enjoy it more than Christmas as it is a day, that even though a very luxurious meal is prepared, it is just for families to get together without all of the stress associated with shopping, gifts, and the like.

This quality time for families really is lost. I know a family can get together and go out to a restaurant to eat and this is good for many. Even though there seems to be a certain segment of society that seem to belittle the value of the family unit as it “was”, I believe most of us still believe our families are the most important things in our lives.

I know the business people of America want the stores open on Sunday as it generates revenue.

I see this as something, like many other things, that if the American people really didn’t want stores open on Sunday, they wouldn’t be open.

The Muslims and some other religious beliefs call Christians hypocrites and I don’t see how anyone that isn’t Muslim, agnostic, or atheist can say differently. If a Christian follows the Bible, then if I am correct, Sunday is a day of rest, therefore the stores should be closed.

There is no one to blame but the America people for them being open, not the government or anyone else because if Americans really didn’t want these businesses open, then they would not patronize them on Sunday. No business is going to stay open on Sunday if it isn’t an economical plus for them. I have heard many businessmen say, it just isn’t worth it to stay open on Sunday.

Well America, here is a golden opportunity to prove your Christianity and allow people to have Christmas off. The excuses that we forget and things of this nature so we need them open on Sunday is quite weak. I think anyone can get accustomed to planning for the stores to be closed on one day, especially when it is known well in advance such as stores being open on Sunday.

The real reason for this post is to mention Christmas. Why not test the theory and no one go to the store on Christmas. I see a great benefit for many people in that they can be with their families instead of working and it also might keep those that basically feel the need for some special thing that most likely could be gotten by without for one day.

Then we have the real reason according to many in modern society and that is, by staying away from stores on Sunday, we are going “green”. It would save energy. How many people would stay home on Sunday, if they didn’t go to the store to get something?

I would like to see this happen, just because it is time for the American people to show the government, just how much power they or we really have.

I say thank you for those that worked and are working on Christmas for providing access to things people need on that day. I say “bah humbug” to the businesses and business owners that are open for business, unless they offer every employee the day off, if they want it.

In an affluent country such as America where most people have the necessities of life, it really is sad that money and greed rule so much of our lives.

If people did this one thing and didn’t shop on Christmas, could it also be done for shopping on Sunday, then spread to other things so many Americans really don’t like?

Please feel free to comment!

There were at one time many places where people could chat on the internet.

I think the most popular, and one that is still very popular is Yahoo.

I don’t go there often but there was a time when I spent more time there than I should have, but it did indirectly pay off. I was looking for help at my job and I did find a couple people that were interested and did help some.

The real chat appears to be more about sex than anything else. I am not condemning it I am just stating it as a fact. I do think that the pay sites like dating.com or some of those might be the place to go even though they do charge for their services.

They do claim to do actual research before matching people up for what I assume is some nominal fee.

People do attempt this in the regular chat rooms, or at least the “romance” rooms in Yahoo. I very often found or still find that the general conversation is more sexual innuendos and joking, but is more often than not sexual in nature.

Some people are looking for sex, some for conversation, and some are seriously looking for a soul mate or possibly someone to spend their lives with.

The percentage of divorcees seems to be relatively high and often the attitude toward one sex or the other causes some lively debates at times. I don’t consider myself stuffy or a prude but the conversation can end up to sound something like some sort of pornography.

There are often a bunch of regulars that go there often and share their daily experiences with each other. They often schedule “chat parties” and usually invite most of the people in the room. This does permit people to meet and often some people meet that special someone.

I have personally found it difficult to break into anything that seems to be like a real conversation until you have been there a few times so if you do check the rooms, this can be a good thing to remember.

I find that most of the people are nice although I feel very strongly that many people will type things on the screen they would never say to someone.

It passes the time and for someone that is single and just wants to interact with others, I think it is a great way to get to talk with someone.

I do think there is a fairly large percentage of people purely looking for sex and many are married. I do know that not all of those that are married admit it until they get caught, so it is something to watch for.

I do think the romance rooms contain more talk of sex than might be necessary, but they are romance rooms, so it should be expected.

The thing I really like about them even though I haven’t been in one in months is that usually no matter what topic you discuss, someone has knowledge. The best part is that it is often useful. Things from how to fix a computer or how to find some special item that isn’t sold in all stores.

Either way and not matter why you go there, it can be fun.
