Hospital In Eastern Maine Laying Off Employees
I don’t think layoffs anywhere come as a shock to anyone. I do think when hospitals where we wait for hours to be seen shouldn’t be laying people off.
There is a problem with cash flow from what I heard on the news.
One might go further and examine why. I wonder if it could be that unemployment in the upper part of the state is high. Another thing one might look at is how many of the people treated, do not have insurance? Do we have a large number of illegal aliens that have no insurance or are on state aid for their health care?
It amazes me that the politicians can’t figure out or solve part of the problems affecting so many businesses in Maine and in America.
I know at least one person in Maine wishes to take from the rich and give to the poor. She is in our legislature. I agree with the theory which I call a, “Robin Hood” type of idea, but I don’t see it as something that is possible. I say this because we have far to many people in this country that are getting benefits that in a great many cases, don’t even pay an income tax.
The hospital laying off it’s employees makes me think of a small garage. I knew a man that ran a small garage. He did very well and was always busy. He folded because people didn’t pay him. Many did pay, but there were enough that didn’t to put him out of business.
Like most Mainer’s, I am not against helping people.
I do know we have relatively high welfare rolls. I also know that many working people have far less disposable income after paying taxes and living expenses than some of the people getting benefits from the state.
Most people don’t blame the people getting help, nor do I.
I blame the politicians for developing a system where people can’t get a job and do nearly as well by working a regular job.
Shouldn’t our politicians create something that increases the incentives for people to work, rather than draw from the government?
