There are probably a few million blogger’s that will not appreciate this post but I do feel that I should mention one point about blogging, or getting visitors by signing up at blogs or on blogs.
It isn’t and shouldn’t be a problem for most of us. I do know spam is a problem. I think any of us with a blog have noticed the comments with the erroneous comments that aren’t even remotely connected to the post they commented on, obviously put on our blogs by some automatic program.
In defense of this type of advertising I must add that most blogger’s are polite enough to provide a link where you can unsubscribe.
These are a very real problem if you get a large amount of traffic. I do know That Akismet does take them out. I find that their accuracy is impeccable. Maybe not that good, but I haven’t had to approve a comment that the program found to this point with the possible exception of trackback or ping occasionally.
I know it is recommended to have a news letter and an e-mail list and keep promoting your product. This is a very definite way to get traffic, and traffic means sales.
What I don’t see are many fresh ideas on any of the blogs. I have signed for some newsletters from popular blogs, but even then, the information tends to be available on many other sites. Truly new ideas are difficult to find.
I signed up for something from “MaxBlogPress”. I really don’t remember what it was and I give the site credit for providing some very good information. I don’t know that it is any better or much different than so many other sites about traffic, sales, and all the typical hype and promised to blogger’s.
I do know they do send way more advertising e-mail than I like to receive. I already get my two or three hundred spam e-mails, generally Cialis and Viagra, but sometimes other drugs or totally adult ads.
I have a filter for that also, but it still fills my mailbox enough so that it requires either a larger mailbox, or constantly dumping the mail. It also wastes all of our time sorting through this e-mail to find the one in one hundred we actually want to read.
I merely mention this here because even though some of these newsletters are beneficial, one should try to remember that in a very large number of cases, you have just introduced yourself to what can turn out to be a very large source of spam.
I recommend that anyone read a site, see what the general idea is of their newsletter, then just move along and do a search for that information on a search engine. That way you get the information and you won’t get the spam.
