Living in Maine

stone-pier.jpg

The picture is just a view of Chebeague Island as one leaves the mouth of the Royal River.

I invite anyone to join and share their views with others on any subject.

Because I live in Maine and this is just my personal blog, if it is really interesting to anyone, I welcome comments from anyone. It is a personal blog in that it is just general things I hear from talking with others or how I feel about things in the media.

We are under similar statutes and most of all the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, which by the way have served us well for generations, and also seem to be of late to be somewhat under attack.

Most of us have opinions. This is my “personal” blog and I discuss anything that comes to mind. I welcome opinions of others as I think it beneficial to many to share or discuss nearly any topic or event.

I should mention it isn’t necessary to join to comment, but all are welcome to join or just leave their thoughts and ideas. For those that might wish to make a post instead of just a comment, this is also possible by joining and contacting me of your desires.

If you check “My Links” you will find my other sites.

I try to stay away from politics but because I have hunted since I was a very young man, I really did wish to express my opinion about this bill.
I very often here that people see no need of anyone having an assault rifle.

Maine Boating Season

admin on April 26th, 2009

I guess the Maine boating season is here. I put my boat in a few days ago and the boatyard was then showing signs of coming to life. There were a couple of the pleasure boats that had

New Yamaha V Star

admin on April 25th, 2009

I bought a Yamaha V Star 250 a very short time ago. I only have about 90 miles o it. I took quite a razzing from the guys at the restaurant about it, but it does get close to 80 mpg or is supposed to, and the speed limit between where I live and there [...]

Maine’s Fee Increases

admin on April 19th, 2009

Maine decided not to increase taxes. The fees I have seen for many things have increased about 40% for almost any license or state fee.
As a Maine resident, I hope new local taxes

Local Home Breakin

admin on April 3rd, 2009

Usually the restaurant is fairly quiet unless people get debating or discussing the economy, Obama, or just things that are happening in the country.
Today a local woman was telling about a home break in, during the daytime, where the thieves took a laptop, camera, and some jewelry.
The interesting thing to me is

Changes in America

admin on March 23rd, 2009

I don’t know if this is happening all over America but I am seeing, at least on a local level that more people seem to be talking about events in America in a more negative way than I have noticed before.
One of the patrons at the restaurant commented that ammunition for most guns seems to [...]

More From The Restaurant

admin on January 31st, 2009

Things have been moderately quiet at the restaurant. Business hasn’t seemed to drop that much but it has dropped enough to know by my frequent visits that things are down from what they were not that long ago.
The conversation at the counter has

What Makes A Good Blog?

admin on January 31st, 2009

Obviously this is the type of question for which there are no concrete answers. What interests one person might not interest another. I consider this just a fact of life.
I know many would include great along with good, bad, or some other

Changing America

admin on January 14th, 2009

The conversation at Cole’s was slightly different today. Generally I have been trying to avoid heavy conversations, or conversations involving the economic problems of the country. Lately I have been much to outspoken about how I feel about much of what is going on.
It is sort of a personal

Survivalism

admin on December 31st, 2008

The topic for the day was survivalism. There were four of us sitting at the counter watching the TV while we ate lunch. I don’t remember what was on but I believe it was Rachael Ray.
The people at the counter often interact and the general topic for the first couple sentences was
